CLEANING PROTOCOL
After finishing your DiamondGlow™ procedure, please complete the following:
Empty waste jar and reattach.
Remove and discard the solution bottle. If there is leftover solution, cap it, date it, and use it within 2 weeks. Please note: Vitamin C Serum must be used within 2 days.
Remove clear plastic disposable cap from handpiece and discard.
Remove diamond treatment tip from handpiece and place in the white Opti-Cide3® cap. – There should be 2 diamond tips in the Opti-Cide3® cap; exfoliating tip and smooth tip for around the eyes/lips.
Attach blue cleaning cap on handpiece.
Pour a small amount of Opti-Cide3® into the cap containing diamond tips.
Insert Opti-Cide3® in either #1 or #2 blue tubes. Change mode switch to correlate with mode switch number.
Turn the machine on, and turn both the silver vacuum and silver flow knobs all the way to the right.
Let run for approximately 3 minutes. If you turn the handpiece upside down on the hook on the back of the device, an air bubble will appear in the blue cleaning cap after a few minutes, letting you know the Opti-Cide3® has run its course.
While the machine is on, remove and discard empty Opti-Cide3® bottles, and take off the blue cleaning cap. You will hear a hissing noise, which is air pressure being released.
Let the device run for 10 to 20 seconds with the blue cleaning cap off. Airflow is good for the device.
Remove, empty, and reattach the waste jar.

Do not treat around the eyes or lips when using SkinMedica® Pore Clarifying Pro-Infusion Serum.
Turning on the Device
Select the correct brush head. See Pore Clarifying Handpiece User Manual.
Locate and press black on/off switch on the upper left of the front console.
When the main power is on, the vacuum digital gauge and back blue lighting will light up. You will also hear the vacuum compressor and cooling fan engage.
Prepping Device Prior to Treatment
Choose appropriate SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum and remove the lid of the bottle(s). Insert bottle(s) and thread into tubing manifold labeled 1 and/or 2.
Make sure the gray mode switch is pointed toward the tubing number you will be using, either 1 or 2.
Make sure the waste jar is threaded evenly and secured into the manifold.
Occlude the handpiece tip: – Take the Plexus Standard handpiece in your dominant hand, pointing downward and place your thumb over the plastic cap cover. – Wait 2 to 3 seconds to prime the serum into the pneumatic chamber. – The true vacuum reading will show when the tip is occluded.
Flush out any remaining disinfectant in the tubing by waiting for the new SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum to reach the handpiece before treating the patient.
Prepping the Patient Prior to Treatment
Using the DiamondGlow™ velcro headband, gently wrap around the patient’s head so that the hair is completely secured away from the facial treatment area.
Using SkinMedica® AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser, cleanse the patient’s skin thoroughly to remove all makeup, dirt, and debris.
DiamondGlow™ Pass Direction
1 pass on the neck, 2 passes on the face with 1 detoxification stroke following each pass (a total of 4 passes), then nose treatment.
Neck Treatment—1 Pass Only
While occluding the Pore Clarifying handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum between 3 and 4 PSI (pounds per square inch) and the flow between 50% and 60%. – 3 to 4 PSI is the appropriate setting for the neck area. (The true vacuum reading will show when tip is occluded)
Gently tilt the patient’s head back to begin treatment on the neck.
Place the Pore Clarifying handpiece at the highest point under the middle of the chin using your dominant hand. Using your free hand, pull the skin taut for a smoother glide.
Begin first stroke. Gently glide without downward pressure, the handpiece downward toward the collarbone, in long, 4-second downward strokes working medial to lateral in direction. Each stroke will align directly on top of the previous stroke (the plastic cap is what aligns, not the diamond).
Follow this direction laterally (left to right or vice versa) until 1 full pass of the neck has been completed. The last downward stroke begins under the lobe of the ear and ends at the top of the décolletage.
Repeat the process on the left side of the neck to complete 1 full pass.
Facial Treatment—Total of 2 Passes
While occluding the Pore Clarifying handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum between 4 and 5 PSI (pounds per square inch) and flow between 50% and 60%. – 4 to 5 PSI is the appropriate setting for the facial area. (The true vacuum reading will show when tip is occluded)
Gently tilt the patient’s head to the left, until their left cheek is flat on the treatment table.
Place the Pore Clarifying handpiece in the middle point of the chin, slightly above the jawline. Using your free hand, pull the skin taut following the handpiece for a smooth glide and preventing rolling of the skin and skipping of the handpiece.
Begin first stroke. Gently glide the handpiece, medial to lateral in direction, toward the earlobe, in long, 4-second horizontal strokes. Each pass will align directly on top of the previous stroke.
At the end of each stroke, gently tilt the handpiece upward against gravity. Using your free hand, wipe away any residual serum. This will prevent serum from dripping.
Continue 4-second horizontal strokes, working medial to lateral while moving upward toward the crown of the head.
Once you reach the crown of the head, begin the detoxification stroke.
The detoxification stroke should move from the middle of the crown of the head following the hairline downward, then hooking under and around the ear, to the mastoid bone and down the neck. Once the handpiece reaches the mastoid bone, place slight pressure to the handpiece while gliding the handpiece down to the collarbone, to promote a detoxification flush.
Switching hands with your handpiece and wrapping the tubing behind you, repeat the exact same process on the left side of the face to complete 1 full pass.
Once the first pass with a total of 2 detoxification strokes has been completed, begin the second pass, starting on the right side, utilizing the same technique. Don’t forget, after each side of the face to complete a detoxification stroke.
Sunburn alert: AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser and AHA/BHA Cream contain an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Patients should use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using these products for a week following discontinuation.
Nose Treatment—4 to 6 Strokes
While occluding the Pore Clarifying handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum at 4 to 5 PSI (pounds per square inch) and flow between 50% and 60%. – 4 to 5 PSI is the appropriate setting for the nose area. (The true vacuum reading will show when tip is occluded)
Place the Pore Clarifying handpiece at the top right of the nose. Avoid the bridge of the nose for a comfortable treatment.
Gently glide the handpiece downward toward nasolabial fold, in short, 2-second strokes. Complete 4 to 6 strokes based on the patient’s level of congestion. Number of passes is dependent on the level of congestion. Repeat the same technique on the right side of the nose.
For additional extractions, place the treatment tip on the area of congestion and rotate the entire handpiece to perform an oscillating motion.
Treatment Around the Eyes—4 to 6 Strokes
For eye treatments, switch to the Plexus Standard handpiece with smooth tip and use the SkinMedica® Ultra Hydrating Pro-Infusion Serum. Do not treat around the eyes when using SkinMedica® Pore Clarifying Pro-Infusion Serum. Always use a smooth tip around the eyes.
While occluding the Plexus Standard handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum between 2 and 3 PSI (pounds per square inch) and flow between 75% and 100%. – 2 to 3 PSI is the appropriate setting for the facial area. (The true vacuum reading will show when tip is occluded)
Begin on the lower lid. Place the Plexus Standard handpiece just below medial canthus, close to the lash line and perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second upside down rainbow-shaped strokes upward toward the crow’s feet. If the patient has long eyelashes, have them look up during the lower lid treatment; otherwise have them gently close their eyes during the eye treatment portion.
Move to the upper lid. Place the Plexus Standard handpiece just above the medial canthus on the brow bone and perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second rainbow-shaped strokes working toward the crow’s feet.

(The true vacuum reading will show when the tip is occluded).
Begin on the lower lid. Place the Plexus Standard handpiece just below medial canthus and then close to the lash line perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second upside down rainbow-shaped strokes upward toward the crow’s feet. If the patient has long eyelashes, have them look up during the lower lid treatment, otherwise have them gently close their eyes during the eye treatment portion.
Move to the upper lid. Place the Plexus Standard handpiece just above the medial canthus on the brow bone and perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second rainbow-shaped strokes working toward the crow’s feet.
For additional treatment on crow’s feet: Perform cross-hatching (tic-tac-toe shape) or half-moon strokes working medial to lateral on or near crow’s feet.
Lip Treatment—4 to 6 Strokes
While occluding the Plexus Standard handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum between 2 and 3 PSI (pounds per square inch) and flow between 75% and 100%. – 2 to 3 PSI is the appropriate setting for the facial area. (The true vacuum reading will show when tip is occluded)
Begin on the right side of the lower lip. Place the Plexus Standard handpiece in the middle of the lower lip and perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second horizontal strokes, working medial to lateral toward the corner of the mouth.
At the end of each stroke, gently tilt the handpiece upward against gravity, using your free hand, wipe away any residual serum. This will prevent serum from dripping.
Repeat strokes and technique on the left side of the lower lip.
Move to the upper lip. Place the Plexus Standard handpiece in the middle of the upper lip and perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second horizontal strokes, working medial to lateral towards the corner of the mouth.
Repeat strokes and technique on the left side of the upper lip to complete the entire lip treatment.

Turning on the Device
Locate and press black on/off switch on the upper left of the front console.
When the main power is on, the vacuum digital gauge and back blue lighting will light up. You will also hear the vacuum compressor and cooling fan engage.
Prepping Device Prior to Treatment
Choose appropriate SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum and remove the lid of the bottle(s). Insert bottle(s) and thread into tubing manifold labeled 1 and/or 2.
Make sure the gray mode switch is pointed toward the tubing number where you will have to use either 1 or 2.
Make sure the waste jar is threaded evenly and secured into the manifold.
Occlude the handpiece tip: – Take the Plexus Standard handpiece in your dominant hand, pointing downward, and place your thumb over the plastic cap covering the opening – Wait 2 to 3 seconds to prime the serum into the pneumatic chamber.
Using SkinMedica® Facial Cleanser, cleanse the patient’s skin thoroughly to remove all makeup, dirt, and debris.
DiamondGlow™ Pass Direction
1 pass on the neck, 2 passes on the face with 1 detoxification stroke following each pass (a total of 4 passes), then treat the nose, around the eyes, and the lips.
Neck Treatment—1 Pass Only
While occluding the Plexus Standard handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum between 3 and 4 PSI (pounds per square inch) and the flow between 50% and 60%. – 3 to 4 PSI is the appropriate setting for the neck area. (The true vacuum reading will show when tip is occluded)
Gently tilt the patient’s head back to begin treatment on the neck.
Place the Plexus Standard handpiece at the highest point under the middle of the chin using your dominant hand. Using your free hand, pull the skin taut for a smoother glide.
Begin first stroke. Gently glide without downward pressure, the handpiece downward toward the collarbone, in long 4-second downward strokes working medial to lateral in direction.
While occluding the Plexus Standard handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum between 4 and 5 PSI (pounds per square inch) and flow between 50% and 60%. – 4 to 5 PSI is the appropriate setting for the facial area. (The true vacuum reading will show when the tip isoccluded).
Gently tilt the patient’s head to the left, until their left cheek is flat on the treatment table.
Place the Plexus Standard handpiece in the middle point of the chin, slightly above the jawline.
Once the handpiece reaches the mastoid bone, place slight pressure to the handpiece while gliding the handpiece down to the collarbone for promoting a detoxification flush.
Switch hands with your handpiece and wrap the tube behind you. Repeat the exact same process on the left side of the face to complete 1 full pass.
Once the first pass with a total of 2 detoxification strokes has been completed, begin the second pass, starting on the right side, utilizing the same technique. Don’t forget to treat each side of the face to complete a detoxification stroke.
Nose Treatment—4 to 6 Strokes
While occluding the Plexus Standard handpiece with your thumb, turn the vacuum and flow adjustment knobs clockwise to set the vacuum at 4 to 5 PSI (pounds per square inch) and flow between 50% and 60%. – 4 to 5 PSI is the appropriate setting for the nose area. (The true vacuum reading will show when the tip is occluded).
Place the Plexus Standard handpiece at the top right of the nose.
For additional extractions: Place the treatment tip on the area of congestion and rotate the entire handpiece to perform an oscillating motion.
Treatment Around the Eyes—4 to 6 Strokes
Switch the diamond treatment tip to the smooth 00 tip. Only use smooth tip for treatment around the eyes.
(The true vacuum reading will show when the tip is occluded).
Begin on the lower lid by placing the Plexus Standard handpiece just below the medial canthus. Then, close to the lash line perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second upside down rainbow-shaped strokes, then upward towards the crow’s feet.
(The true vacuum reading will show when the tip is occluded).
Place the Plexus Standard handpiece in the middle of the upper lip and perform 4 to 6 small, 2-second horizontal strokes, working medial to lateral toward the corner of the mouth.
Repeat strokes and technique on the left side of the upper lip to complete the entire lip treatment.
